Lois Ann Veitenheimer Luig was an avid walker and runner who was always adamant about health and nutrition. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, favorite aunt, great aunt and wonderful friend. She loved to travel, and was always the planner of get-togethers. She loved life and all that it offered. Her time with us tragically ended on January 3, 2013 while walking in the early morning with a friend. Her favorite phrase was, “If I can do it, you can do it.” At the age of 53, she wouldn’t let anyone use ‘old age’ as an excuse not to get in shape.
This health walk/run in Windthorst on November 2nd is organized in her memory as it would have been her birthday on November 4th. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society – Relay for Life. Lois was instrumental in establishing her family’s team, “Fishing for a Cure.” Her leadership in the event has helped raise several thousand dollars each year in the memory of her father.
